International Summer School

The 1st Summer School on “Implementation and Enhancement of MRV System for GHG emissions, and Emission Trade Systems (ETS)” is prepared under the scope of MRV Capacity Development Project – Turkey,  which is implemented by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization  (MoEU) together with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and commissioned by (BMUB), funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Government is being held in Izmir between 26th of September and 1st of October 2016.
The first Summer School on “Implementation and Enhancement of MRV System for GHG emissions, and Emission Trade Systems (ETS)”,which hosts experts from public institutions, organizations who works on greenhouse gas emissions from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Morocco, South Africa, Iran, Cyprus, Pakistan, Tunisia and Ukraine, has started with the speech of Mr. Adnan Tan Deputy General Director of Environmental Management General Directorate, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization of Republic of Turkey on 26th of September 2016.  During his speech Mr. Adnan Tan has emphasized the importance of the GHG emissions related studies which have been done in Turkey. Mr. Tan also mentioned, this summer school has a big role in providing a common platform for further studies and cooperation, which are expected to increasingly continue in future.  Mr. Martin Punsmann, Project Director of MRV Capacity Development Project, explained the point Turkey reached with MRV studies, and concluded his speech by expressing his hope to provide a beneficial platform for all participants during the summer school.
During this one week long summer school, it is aimed to provide information on GHG Monitoring legislation, and on practical orientation of online system to foreign participants. Moreover, the summer school is designed to present an opportunity for technical corporations with countries in the region.
