Study Tour in Germany

From 20th to 29th of October 2015, a Turkish delegation travelled together with GIZ experts to Germany on a study tour within the scope of the MRV Project. The Turkish delegation consisted of experts from the General Directorate of Environmental Impact Assessment and General Directorate for Environmental Management, which are both part of the MoEU. Also, experts from TURKAK (Turkish Accreditation Agency) were present during the eight-day study tour.

The main purpose of this tour was to conduct site visits at companies (to see verification progress) with higher emissions, whose mitigation processes are relevant for the MRV project in Turkey (such as iron & steel, cement, aluminum, brick and petrochemical industries).

These site visits gave the Turkish delegation the opportunity to learn more about verification processes through DEHSt (German Emission Trading Authority). Furthermore, they gained hands-on experience about emission related components (such as measuring instruments, sampling, and emission control and verification progress for different sectors).
